January 7, 2015

BLACKFOOT — It will go down in the books as a 59-49 loss to Madison, but for the Blackfoot Lady Broncos Tuesday night's loss showed just how far the team has come since the beginning of the season.
When the Broncos and Bobcats played in Rexburg earlier in the season the Broncos were handed a 58-point loss.
Tuesday night the Broncos led by as many as eight late in the third quarter and held a slim one-point lead entering the fourth.

Lady Panthers use big second half to down Malad

December 31, 2014

THOMAS — Snake River head coach Rich Dunn refers to his yearly Christmas break game as the holiday ham game and for good reason.
As most teams in the area enjoy a few weeks away from playing games and just practice, the Panthers play at least one game during the break to keep in basketball mode prior to the second half of the season beginning.
In years past it took the Panthers a quarter or two or sometimes the entire game to get into the flow of the game.
Tuesday night against visiting Malad it took just two quarters for the Panthers to earn a huge 56-33 win at Snake River High School.

THOMAS — Maybe it was the fans sarcastic applause after the Panthers first points of the game after 11:30 of being held scoreless.
Or maybe it was the no doubt fiery halftime speech from head coach Bob Coombs, but something got into the Snake River Panthers in the second half against Sugar-Salem Tuesday night.
After being held scoreless in the opening quarter and trailing 21-1 with 4:31 left in the game the Panthers rallied in the second half cutting the deficit to as little as seven points.

BLACKFOOT — The positives for the Blackfoot Broncos have been few and far between in the early part of the 2014-15 basketball season.
It has been a lot of two steps forward and one step backward week after week.

And for the opening 16 minutes the Broncos looked as if the first win of the season would come against the Indians as Si Hoskins, Taylor Pearson and Matt Peterson were aggressive driving to the rim.
