Cougars end regular season

FIRTH —The Firth Cougars bid a fond farewell to four seniors before Wednesday evening's showdown with the first place West Jefferson Panthers. After a hear warming pre match ceremony honoring Emily Fielding, Kelsie Oliver, Brooke Chapman and Shannon Spencer the visitors disrupted the proceedings with a 3-0 shut out of the Cougars.
"I hope that these seniors continue to have big dreams and the courage to go after them," Firth head coach Carla Reeves said. "I was especially proud of Kelsie Oliver tonight. She just went out there and played her heart out."

Lady Broncos oh, so close

IDAHO FALLS — Trailing by one goal to the Bonneville Lady Bees, Blackfoot put on a last rush in a valiant effort to tie the game. In the last 5 minutes of play the Lady Broncos peppered the Bonneville goal, only to see the ball carom harmlessly away on as many as five occasions, leading to a hard fought, yet disappointing 3-2 season ending loss.

Bronco season ends bitter sweet

IDAHO FALLS — After a 9-1 conference record and a first place finish in the regular season the Blackfoot Broncos looked poised for a deep run through the post season. That is why they continue to play the games however as the Broncos were upset for the second straight day, this time 4-2 at the hands of the Madison Bobcats.

Panthers complete comeback

THOMAS — The top two teams in the 3A fifth district collided at Snake River High School and after the dust had settled, Snake River emerged triumphant after a five game thriller 20-25, 20-25, 25-14, 25-20 and 15-6.
"I think that we just had to get the jitters out to start," Snake River head coach Shelli Van Orden said. "We are mentally strong, we have a lot of experience and we just fought through it tonight."
After dropping the first two games Snake River roared back to life in the third game behind the very vocal, loud support of the home crowd.

Lady Panthers look great, heading to state

THOMAS — For the fourth year in a row, the Snake River Lady Panther soccer squad are heading to the state tournament, representing the fifth district as the conference champions.
"I told these girls that this is our field and we don't want to go home without winning on this field with this team," Snake River head coach Randy Turpin said. "We had play out of kids all day long like they wanted to win and I'm sorry but American Falls didn't know what to do with us. These dang kids have so much heart and I can't say enough."

Bronco seniors celebrated

BLACKFOOT — The Blackfoot volleyball program paid a fond farewell to four seniors on Tuesday night as Taylor Sheepskin, Quinci Mortensen, Vanessa Wislodoski and Andrea Smith took to the home court for the final time in their prep careers.
At the end of the evening Hillcrest proved to be inhospitable house guests however, as they spoiled the evening by winning the match 3-1.

Cougars hold on for big win over Pirates

FIRTH — A 6-0 Butte County team invaded Firth on Friday night, looking to complete a perfect regular season and capture a 2A Nuclear Conference Title.
The Cougars were having none of that nonsense on their senior night however as they started fast and then held on late for a 36-60 victory.
"This was a huge win, basically if we can win out we will be conference champs which is what our goal was setting out," Firth head coach Dee Harrison said. "We're getting better. The offensive line did a great job, the defense was awesome it was just a great game."

Panthers steamroll Bears

MONTPELIER — C.J. Toulouse passed for 114 yards and two touchdowns as Snake River downed Bear Lake 43-0 in Southeast Idaho Conference football action on Friday. He also rushed for a pair of scores. With the win the Panthers improved to 4-2 overall and 1-0 in league play.
"The kids came out and played like we drew it up," coach Jeff Dalley said of Snake River's defensive play. "There was a lot of good hitting going on."
