Jane Lucille Pack Lundberg, the angel that Heaven lent to us for 74 years, peacefully returned to the Saviorâ€™s arms on Saturday, Oct. 30, 2010, surrounded by her loving family. She was a humble, noble and loving soulâ€” she was simply â€śawesome, awesome.â€ť
BLACKFOOT â€” Casey Rosin from Firth and Kathy Ternus from Blackfoot were recognized for their leadership at the Bingham County 4-H Open House Monday evening.
Rosin received the Spirit of 4-H award and $200. This is the third year Randy and Julie Wilmot have sponsored this award.
Randy Wilmot said the Spirit of 4-H award goes to â€śthe youth member who goes beyond what they need to do; they put in that extra effort.â€ť
BLACKFOOT â€” It is often said that speed kills. On Friday night, in the opening round game of the state playoffs it did just that as Blackfoot displayed tons of speed en route to a resounding 62-13 victory over Jerome.
"We're just going to come ready to play and hopefully have a few plays that we can execute and do well with," Blackfoot head coach Stan Buck said. "I think that we were just a little bit more physical tonight and that's important in the game."
POCATELLO â€” The Malad Dragons came into their opening round match up with the Firth Cougars breathing fire, roasting the Cougars and eliminating them from the state tournament on Thursday evening.
The night started out wrong from the get go for the Cougars as they had their kick off with the Dragons pushed back nearly 50 minutes in Holt Arena due to the South Fremont-American Falls game not finishing until 9 P.M.
Thelda Van Orden, 90, of Pingree, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2010, at the Willows Assisted Living Center.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 30, 2010, at the Pingree 1st Ward LDS Chapel, with Bishop Val Carter conducting.
The family will meet with friends and relatives from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 29, 2010, at Hawker Funeral Home, 132 South Shilling Avenue in Blackfoot and for one hour prior to services at the church. Interment will follow at the Riverside-Thomas Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at email@example.com.
Nettie Lavon Hastings, 94, of Basalt, passed away Oct. 26, 2010, at her home.
Funeral services will be 11a.m. Saturday, Oct. 30, 2010, at the Firth LDS Stake Center (823 North 675 East) in Basalt.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 9:30-10:40 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in the Goshen Cemetery under the direction of Nalder Funeral Home (110 West Oak) in Shelley.Â Condolences can be sent to the family at www.nalderfuneralhome.com.
SILVERDALE, Wash. â€” Ruth P. Todd, 77, of Silverdale died Friday, Oct. 22, 2010, at Harrison Medical Center in Bremerton surrounded by her beloved family.
Ruth was an avid gardner who enjoyed spending time with her family.
BLACKFOOT â€“Â In one whirlwind week everything changed for Robyn Case and her family.
â€śI was 31 years old and I was four months pregnant with my fourth baby when I found a lump,â€ť said Case. â€śI thought it was something that had to do with the pregnancy.â€ť
Her husband, Doug, kept telling her to ask her doctor which she finally did on a Monday in August 2008.
Case says on Monday her doctor sent her over to a surgeon who did a biopsy. Tuesday they did an ultrasound, Wednesday she had an MRI, Thursday they received the results and Friday at 7 a.m. she went in for surgery.
BLACKFOOT â€” Curbside voting and AutoMark voting are available to electors in every precinct in Bingham County.
Curbside voting is done at the polling place. An election worker comes out to the personâ€™s car to assist the vehicle-bound person.
To use this service, the person bringing the voter to the polls comes into the polling place to request that an election worker bring a ballot out to the car. Before voting, each elector must show some form of photo identification to vote.
All polling places have this service available.
FORT HALL â€“ Our Dad, Brother, Uncle, and Friend, Cyrus Lionel Preacher, 45, returned home to the Creator on Oct. 24, 2010, as a result of a sudden illness in Pocatello.
On Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2010, at 10 a.m., Cyrus will be taken to his residence on â€śDâ€ť Street and West Agency Road, Fort Hall, where he will remain for viewing until traditional burial services on Thursday, Oct. 28, 2010, at the Cedars Cemetery at 2 p.m.
All arrangements are under the care of Cyrusâ€™s family and with the assistance of Bannock Pride.
