YUMA, Ariz. â€” Albert and Sharon Gardner, former Blackfoot residents who now live in Arizona, returned to Yuma this week after flying nearly 12,000 miles -- equal to traveling halfway around the world. The trip was the culmination of a longtime desire that Albert had to land his airplane in every contiguous state of the Union. The plane is a home-built craft that he constructed in his garage. Prior to this summer he had landed the plane in every state west of the Mississippi.
THOMAS â€” It was a new look Snake River team that took to the home field for Friday nights homecoming clash with Aberdeen as the two headed quarterback rotation was scraped in favor for a more traditional single signal caller and the change was effective as the Panthers sent their large crowd away happy with a 24-0 whitewashing of the Tigers.
BLACKFOOT â€” Colby Pearson hauled in a six yard touchdown strike from Trae Pilster with :30 remaining on the clock on Friday evening and the Blackfoot Broncos emerged victorious in their homecoming game with a 27-22 victory over the Madison Bobcats.
The touchdown was quickly followed by a catch by Gabby Maldonado who scored the two point conversion, making the final score 29-22.
The Broncoâ€™s hosted the Bobcats in what was not only Blackfootâ€™s homecoming game it was also the continuation of the annual Buck Bowl, as brothers Stan and Mitchâ€™s teams faced off.
BLACKFOOT â€” The Blackfoot Chamber of Commerce is seeking nominations of Chamber members to fill three seats on the Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors.
The terms of three members on the board will expire at the end of this year. Nominations from the general membership of the Chamber of Commerce to fill these three seats will be accepted until Oct. 14. ABERDEEN â€“ John Campbell has recently opened his own butcher shop, named Quality Meats, in Aberdeen. Campbell is a custom butcher and has worked in the trade for 16 years.
Campbell trained in the same building that he recently purchased. His apprenticeship was under Treasureâ€™s Custom Pack that, in turn, sold to Klempelâ€™s Fancy Kuts.
Three weeks ago, Campbell opened Quality Meats in the same location, having purchased his business from Klempelâ€™s Fancy Kuts.

BLACKFOOT â€” Bingham County Stop Soup is just around the corner, and the Southeastern Idaho Community Action Agency is seeking donations to make the event a success.
Stone Soup will be Oct. 11 at Mountain View Middle School at 5:30 p.m.
Donations of items for the silent auction and raffle are being sought, and Bingham County Program Coordinator Bobette Jackson said itâ€™s a great way for local businesses to give back in a way that also supports their local community.
BLACKFOOT â€” The Blackfoot School Board of Trustees postponed a decision to accept or deny a petition for the Idaho STEM Academy, a proposed charter high school, after a public hearing Thursday night.
Fermin Avitia Garcia, 79, of Idaho Falls, passed away September 22, 2011 at his home.Â He was under the care of Aspen Home Health & Hospice.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 24, 2011 at Christ the King Catholic Church.Â The family will visit with friends at 6 p.m. Friday at Wood East Side (963 S. Ammon Rd.), with the Rosary at 7 p.m. Burial will be in Fielding Memorial Park.Â Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.woodfuneralhome.com.
Conley D. Clayton, 76, of Rigby, died Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2011.
He was born Oct, 5, 1934, in Longrun, Missouri, to Ralph Haskins and Lizzie Clayton.
He was raised and attended schools in Longrun. On May 18, 1954, he married Juanita Arlene Walters in Idaho Falls. To this union they added three children.
He worked in the potato industry and farmed and ranched in the Southeast Idaho area throughout his life.
Randy Rodriguez, Jr., 3 day old infant son of Analicia Contreras and Randy Rodriguez Sr. passed away Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2011 at Bingham Memorial Hospital.
Randy was born Sept. 17, 2011 in Blackfoot, Idaho.
Though his days were short on this earth, he was loved and left a lasting imprint on the hearts of his family.
