BLACKFOOT â€” Shaden Leland Ross Walters was sentenced to probation and
fined $1,355.50 Monday by Bingham County Seventh Judicial Judge Darren
On May 23, 2011, Walters, age 19, and co-defendant Chris Nelson were
charged with burglary. The pair were charged with stealing from Todd
On Oct. 3, Walters pleaded not guilty to the burglary charge and then
changed his plea to guilty on Nov. 14.
In Walters' plea deal, the prosecuting attorney, the defense attorney
and the pre-sentence investigator agreed that Walters was a good
BLACKFOOT â€” The Blackfoot City Council unanimously voted to amend the ordinance requiring a majority vote for the election of city council members. Now, only a plurality vote is required.
A majority is still required in mayoral elections and a runoff election will follow if no candidate receives a majority of the vote.
In discussing the proposed changes, newly elected Council President Chris Jensen and Councilman Farrell Cammack both said they favored requiring a plurality vote for election of council members but said the mayor should still be elected by a majority vote.
Venice Pratt, 76, of Blackfoot passed away Sunday, Jan. 1, 2012 at Bingham Memorial Hospital in Blackfoot.

Diana Suzanne Myers, 55, of Blackfoot lost her battle with cancer on Dec. 26, 2011, surrounded by her family at home.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 7, 2012 at the Emanuel Lutheran Church, 1110 Parkway Dr., Blackfoot.

Lowell Anderson Dance, 85, of Blackfoot, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 1, 2012 at Heritage Homes Assisted Living in Rexburg.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Jan. 6, 2012 at the Blackfoot LDS 2nd Ward building, 660 Teton Road in Blackfoot. A viewing will be held Thursday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Hawker Funeral Home, 132 South Shilling in Blackfoot, and again on Friday for one hour prior to the service at the church.
Interment will be in the Riverside-Thomas cemetery where final military rites will be presented by American Legion Stewart Hoover Post #23.
Jay Dee Beasley, 73, of Blackfoot, passed away Thursday, Dec. 29, 2011 at his home.
He was born May 9, 1938 in Blackfoot, the son of Wiley Glenn Beasley and Helen Eliza Bond.
Jay has lived in the Blackfoot area his entire life. He graduated from Blackfoot High School in 1957 and later pursued his schooling as a journeyman electrician. He was a Journeyman Electrician for over 50 years. He also worked laying hardwood floors in homes for a short time.
On Sept. 19, 1958, he married Carla Herbst in the Logan LDS Temple. They were married for 53 years.
Joseph Michael Jimenez, 64, of Pasco, Wash., passed away at home surrounded by his family, Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2011.
He was born to Michael Joseph Jimenez and Opal Loa Jimenez on Nov. 11, 1947, in Blackfoot and was the oldest of five children.
Joe met Jacque Benson in 1973 and the two were together from that time on. Joe and Jacque have two daughters: Hillary (Danny) Legard, Katie Jimenez,
and four grandchildren: Erik, Ethan, Kenadee and Brooklyn Legard of Pasco, Wash.
Kent J. Parrish died Dec. 27, 2011 at his home in Chubbuck.
When he wrote his own obituary a number of years ago he entitled it â€ś107-year-old architect dies todayâ€ť but the Lord called him home after only 79 years.
He was born Sept. 29, 1932 in Pocatello to Fred Ezra Parrish and Mable Edna Jensen Parrish.Â He attended schools in Pocatello and graduated from Idaho State University with a degree in Architecture in 1956.Â He attended the National University of Mexico in Mexico City for graduate studies.
