POCATELLO â€“ The Blackfoot Broncos faced a desperate, gambling, unconventional Middleton team on Friday night in the class 4A State Football Championship game and in the end; the Broncos proved that they were indeed the number one team in the state as they captured their third state title in the last five years with a 42-24 victory.
â€śWe knew that it was going to be a tough game,â€ť Blackfoot head coach Stan Buck said. â€śThat was a good, good game and Iâ€™m just real happy for the kids that they were able to get it done. Now we can relax, rest and enjoy the winter sports season.â€ť
POCATELLO â€“ The Snake River Panthers took the lead on the second play from scrimmage and then out slugged the defending 3A state champion Fruitland Grizzlies 35-33 to capture yet another state title for the historic Panther football program at Idaho Stateâ€™s Holt Arena on Friday evening.
â€śYou only get so many moments like this in your lifetime and I am just so proud of the kids and what they accomplished tonight,â€ť Snake River head coach Jeff Dalley said.

THOMAS â€” It took a while longer than expected but in the end, the Rich Dunn era of Snake River Lady Panther basketball got off to a successful start as the Lady Panthers opened their season with a 46-37 victory over Sugar-Salem on Thursday evening.
The start of the game was delayed by an hour and fifteen minutes due to the freshman and junior varsity games running long. In fact, the junior varsity game had to go into overtime before it was decided by a game winning basket by Kara Polatis with a second to go.
IDAHO FALLS â€” Early foul trouble spelled trouble for the Blackfoot Lady Broncos as they fell to 5A Idaho Falls 51-33 on Wednesday evening.
"We have both of our guards pick up those three early fouls and it really changed what we wanted to do," Blackfoot head coach Merle Smith said. "It did give us a chance to get other girls on our bench into the game which gave them all some valuable experience."
Blackfoot and Idaho Falls traded baskets throughout the first quarter with Kylie Coby and Boo Burnett scoring 4 points each in the opening stanza as the Lady Broncos took a 10-8 lead.
