Panthers split with Cougars

July 4, 2012

THOMAS — On an otherwise odd evening on the diamond, the Snake River Panthers averted a home sweep at the hands of the Upper Valley Cougars as they rallied for five runs in the bottom of the seventh inning in game two for a 7-6 walk off victory.
"We could have probably got two wins today, we were hitting the ball well enough in the first game to do that," Snake River head coach Tom Strickland said. "We just didn't play as good on the defensive side that we usually do. I don't know what it was but for whatever reason in both games we just sort of lost our focus a bit. Fortunately, we woke up at the end of the second game."

June 25, 2012

BLACKFOOT — As Shelley native, Tanner Higham stood on the eighteenth tee box he held a slim one shot lead over soon to be pro Jimmy Burnett. After an errant tee shot into the pond on the right side of the fairway, Higham's shot at a Von Elm Golf Championship came crashing down as Burnett's second day 66 carried him to the 2012 championship.
"I knew that Tanner was one shot ahead when I was on eighteen and I had a ten footer for birdie which I thought that I would have to have but Tanner kind of helped me out a bit," Jimmy Burnett said.
